Birthday Weekend

My parents were here for only about a day.  Too quick!  Olivia got to open presents from them and then we went out to her favorite dinner, California Pizza Kitchen, before Sammie's soccer game. 

Grandparent's Day

 My parents came down for Grandparent's Day at the girls' school.  It is always a busy morning at the school with all of the wonderful grandparents around.  Sammie was happy to have both Grandma and Grandpa all to herself for an hour at school because now Olivia is in 4th grade and they only do it for the lower grades.  Sammie is so cute in school. She works so hard.  And she's really into tucking in her shirt.  She tucks in everything.

9 years old today!

 I woke up to Olivia opening my bedroom door, proudly saying "I'm nine," then shutting it just as quickly.  I then heard her shower running.  She was so excited to put on the new outfit for church that my Mom bought her.  Happy Birthday to my sweet Olivia!!  Nine years ago I became a mother to this sweet girl.  She has so much imagination and it always amazes me.  She loves to read and read and read.  She always has a book in hand and she wants to be an author when she grows up.  Every night we hear the book thump on the floor when we are downstairs after she has gone to bed.  Then we know that she has fallen asleep : )

We sort of celebrated all weekend because my parents were here for the first part of it.  Then we had a family friend over tonight to eat cake with us and celebrate.  She had a good day.  She's most definitely nine. 

 (I can't take credit for this cake.  My friend and I cut out the fondant pieces with her cricut cake cutter and then I put it all together.  Olivia was surprised and said it was "too pretty to eat."  We ate it all anyway)

It fell out!

It fell out and it is missing, literally.  We can't find it.  Maybe she swallowed it with her breakfast?  Not sure, but sometime between getting out of bed this morning and after breakfast it fell out and is now gone.  She was so excited and didn't even really mind that she had to ride the bus to school because the car battery was dead.  I think she will be putting her tongue through that hole all day long :)

Another School Girl

Abby started preschool this week.  A few of my friends and I are rotating.  I'm glad that I feel up for it, although the morning of the first day I wasn't so sure.  The kids are really good and we kept the group small so that I can participate but I don't think any of the other moms mind.  These little girls are so much fun.  I love all of their conversations and how excited they are to be there.  It's the best part of teaching preschool. 

Abby was so excited to be with her "friends" and the other girls can't wait for a turn at their house, and I will look forward to having a bit of quiet time.

 

School Days

School is in full swing.  Sammie's first tooth started wiggling on the first day of school and has been getting more wiggly each day.  When she wore this outfit last week she said to me, "Mom, I think this outfit looks good on a girl with a loose tooth." 
I signed Abby up for gymnastics because she was driving me crazy on the first day of school.  She was asking for the girls every few minutes.  She asks me where we are going and what we are doing every single day.  She is such a fun companion but is so active and needs something more.  She has been to two classes and thinks she is an olympic champ.  Olivia is just getting so old.  Every once in a while it just hits me.  She's absolutely beautiful.
