The Commercial Craze

Olivia is really into commercials. She is always telling me about something she saw on a commercial and how it could help me. The thing is, my kids really don't see that many commercials. I let them watch a few things on Saturday mornings and then they watch little shows we have recorded which don't even have commercials. Since she has been learning to read she is noticing things all over the place now.
I was glancing through a magazine just the other day and she was looking over my shoulder and suddenly she gets wide eyes and says, "Hey mom! That's the money you could be saving on your car insurance!" She saw this:Then there was one time and she told me that I really need "these clip thingy's that go in your hair. They come in sparkly colors. I found out later that she meant these:


I might actually be able to use one of these.
Then once when driving with Joey she exclaimed, "Look daddy! It's Sizzler." She has never eaten at a Sizzler in her life.
Then when my mom was just here she said something about tap water. Olivia commented, "It's like that steam mop. It uses water from the tap and you can clean all your floors. You should really get one of those mom."
My child is already sucked into consumerism.

I'm home now and feeling pretty good. It's good to be home. Jackie did a great job with the girls while I was in the hospital. Thank You So MUCH!Now my mom is here to help out. I will take all I can get. I get a little picture crazy when there is a new baby around. They seem to change every second and I don't want to miss all these little expressions.

Abby has the biggest cheeks. I love having a chubby baby. She is eating and sleeping so well...only time will tell if it will continue.
So far we're having fun and lovin' our little one.

Meet Abigail!

Abigail Jane Biron arrived this evening at 5:25. She weighed in at 8 lbs and is 20 inches long. Both Mom and Baby are doing fine. I'm on my way back to the hospital, but wanted to post some pictures before I left. Anne and the baby should be coming home on Saturday. The girls were really cute when my parents brought them to meet their new little sister. They were so excited. Olivia exclaimed, "This is the best day of my life!" I'd have to agree that it was a pretty great day. We feel so blessed to have 3 healthy little girls. Now we just need another bathroom.

For A Wonderful Teacher

I think I'm going to miss kindergarten more than Olivia will. I loved helping out in her class each week. It made me miss teaching a little. I am so glad that I had those couple of years teaching before I had kids. I learned so much and I would be a different person if I hadn't done it--at least not as organized anyway. We made this for her teacher this year from a picture Olivia drew then I traced it and stitched it. Olivia had a great year over all and her teacher deserves a HUGE pat on the back. Teaching a room full of 20 active 5 and 6 year olds is tough. Olivia has grown up so much since the start of the school year. She's ready to move on and be a big 1st grader now. I'm going to miss her class and her teacher.
I loved kindergarten when I was there. My teacher was named Mrs. Easter. How's that for a kindergarten teacher name? Both my older brother and sister had her and so I was so excited to also have Mrs. Easter. In my eyes she was the best teacher ever. She had bright red hair, lots of freckles, really big eyes that opened disturbingly large when you were in trouble. I tried to stay out of trouble. Those eyes scared me. But I loved her.
A few years ago I actually saw her. I was visting my parents and my mom and I went up to Apple Hill. Olivia was about 2 and I was pregnant with Sammie. I was waiting in line for a bathroom and there she was. Her hair was grey and short, but her face looked exactly the same. There was no mistaking that this was my beloved teacher. I even got a little tingle of excitement when I approached her.
"Are you Mrs. Easter?" I asked like a little 5 year old.
"Yes," she said as her big eyes lit up.
"You were my teacher 20 years ago." I was so excited.
She of course remembered my family because my mom had 3 kids that had her as a teacher. We talked for just a few minutes and then parted ways. That little encounter was so sweet. Teachers are like that. They stick with you. They are forever a part of your memory for that year of your life.

Happy Thoughts

These flowers are making me happy. They always do. I love the masses of flowers on them. I love the colors. They make me think of all the beautiful things that our Heavenly Father has created. Come the cooler months and they turn into brown sticks, but I love it when they come out like this. It makes me happy. It is so worth it.

On Being a Mom

As much as I love being a mom and I love my kids, sometimes I just need a break. A day at the spa is clearly not an option and they are few and far between so I have to come up with "moments" when I get some time to myself.

A list of things that I never thought I would consider "pampering myself" until after I became a mom:

Having just 20 minutes alone in the house because I got home before I said I would and the girls are still out with dad. I take the opportunity to clean with no one to mess things up before I am done.

Going to the bathroom with no interruptions.

Taking a shower with no interruptions.

Putting on a movie in the afternoon for the kids so I can lay down for a few minutes and rest or read.

Doing the dishes after dinner and sending the kids away so that I can just have a minute to think. They don't want to be around when I am doing dishes.

Going grocery shopping by myself.

Lotioning my tired feet before bed.

Folding laundry at night while watching tv.

Working in the yard while my kids are playing with each other.

Showering and getting ready before the kids get up.

Eating a treat when no one is looking so that I don't have to share a bite.

Having a girls night out with girlfriends. Before you are married and have kids you want a night out where there will be boys.

One on one time with my kids.

I could go on, but my "relaxing computer time" is up. I have to find relaxation in the most mundane things or else I will go crazy. Here's to being a mom!
