Now that's high tech

This morning Joey couldn't find his wallet. He was starting to run late and so he was going to look in his car again when he got to work. Olivia was up when he left and so she and I decided to say a prayer that daddy could find his wallet.

Joey sent me a text message after he got to work:
"I found my wallet."

I sent one back:
"Good. We said a prayer for you."

Joey wrote back:
"Thanks."

Olivia asked me, "What does it say?"
I said, "It's a message. He says thanks for the prayer."

Olivia quite perplexed and astonished then asked, "How does Heavenly Father send you a message on your phone!?"

What's in a name?

The other day Joey and I were looking at baby names and their meanings on this website. I don't know who came up with some of these names but we had a pretty good laugh about it. Here are a few:

Name: Phyre
Definition: Fire
Origin: American
My thoughts: What on earth!!!?? If you want to name a kid fire, name her FIRE. What is with "Phyre" when it has no other meaning than that hot burning flame?

Name: Independence
Definition: Freedom
Origin: American
My thoughts: Ok, independence does not mean freedom. Independence means independence. They are not synonyms. What is up with the definition? Don't they use a dictionary on this website?

Name: Floyce
Definition: Joyce and Floyd
Origin: American
My thoughts: Laughing hysterically. Is this for real? Don't need to say anything, just keep laughing.

This and that

Today I really needed to clean this:

Funny things out of their mouths...

As I was getting out of the car Sammie got out of her seat and then was lifting herself off the ground between the two captain's chairs.
Frustrated with her dawdling I asked her to come. Not really bothered by my frustration she said,
"This is how you do a trick, mom," and then hopped right out of the car. Um, thanks for the show Sammie.




I was a having a little discussion with Olivia about right and wrong. I asked her, "Who was the only perfect person?"

"Ummm...Martin Luther King," she said with a little smile. They spent quite of bit of time talking about him at school.

GoooooOOOO Foothill!

Joey has been extremely busy with basketball season. That on top of teaching everyday can get pretty hectic. His team this year is better than last year and they are definitely a more coachable group. The girls like to watch their daddy in action. Sammie had a hard time because she didn't know why she had to sit in the stands and couldn't run up to her daddy and give him a big hug. We can usually make it through one half (we come for the last) then they are ready to go. I can only chase my kids around the bleachers for so long.

The results are in. Drum roll please...

The girls are happily frosting and eating pink cupcakes because, yes, we are welcoming ANOTHER girl into the family. I found out last week what we are having. The girls were SO excited. I believe Olivia was jumping around when I told her and exclaimed, "Yes, the girls are winning." Meaning that we are outnumbering boys in our family? Well, we have a pretty girlie household. Luckily I won't have to change the name of my blog. We can still be "the Princess Diaries." Phew.
Maybe there was a reason that I read Little Women just last month. As I was reading, I was thinking about how fun it would be to have all girls and see their relationships with one another grow. Even the fighting and making up part.
I haven't ever posted anything about my pregnancy. Everything seems to be going along just fine. I'm about 20 or 21 weeks. I'm not really sure. It seems to be flying by, and I'm trying to figure how we are all going to fit in this little house.

Umm..Merry Christmas!

I've been posting about other things and I never got around to writing anything about Christmas which was really great. What can be better than being surrounded by family, eating lots of yummy food, sleeping in, and not having to do ANYTHING? We visited my family first and then went to Joey's parents the day after Christmas. We were gone for about 10 days. 10 gloriously festive days.
The girls got Diamond Castle Barbies from Santa. Olivia was pretty concerned that Santa might not get it right. I had to keep reassuring her that, "I think Santa has it taken care of." They are also blessed with many generous grandparents and aunts and uncles who showered them with gifts. It made their Christmas so exciting and THANK YOU everyone who helped make Christmas memorable for our little ones.
We had two big family parties: one with my mom's family and one with my dad's family. We have been having these parties as long as I can remember. They are always full of singing and "talent showcases," storytelling, poem reading. And be ready when you go. You might be asked to do something on the spot. It was fun to see many of my cousins, to catch up, see the cute kids, and just feel that closeness that you feel at Christmas time.
We got Mario Kart for our Wii, which is pretty much the most addictive thing to have around. I have to keep it put away a little bit or we will be playing it all the time.
Joey and I were able to have a day to ourselves when we visited his parents so we went to San Francisco for our anniversary. It was nice to just have quiet and not think about chasing anyone around. It was a great end to the year.

Sweet Dreams

Olivia has very vivid dreams. Some are pretty scary and some are funny. The other night as she was trying to fall asleep she had her eyes closed tight. She would shake her head and quietly say, "No....no." Then think and then say it again. Joey was in the room with her and asked what she was doing.
As though her brain was flipping through channels on a tv she said, "I'm just trying to find the right dream. I keep thinking of only scary ones."

Just Because

I took these pictures of Sammie when we were at my parent's for Christmas. She was in such a good mood and was making all of these cute and silly faces. Olivia was not so happy and so we don't have any pictures of her from that day. Some days you just don't feel like smiling for the camera. Hey, I totally understand.

I might be bragging but...

I'm so happy with the little pillows that I made for the girls' beds. They were their Christmas presents from Mommy. I embroidered the little pictures by hand, I even drew them myself, and since I don't have a sewing machine I just took them along with me to my parent's house and of course I was stitching them together last minute on Christmas Eve. I got them finished in time and they look perfect in their bedroom. Now I just need a sewing machine of my own so that I don't have to put off these little projects.

Happy New Year!

I'm looking forward to the new year. Last night we had a great celebration. We had homemade pizza for dinner, some Pandoro that we bought in San Francisco, the kids went to bed, I folded laundry, and then read before I fell asleep. It was quite exciting. I don't think that we could muster up any more strength to do any more. It was a peaceful, quiet evening and it couldn't have been better. Ever since I got back from our Christmas trip I have been organizing, cleaning, and throwing out stuff. It seems like I do this everytime we come home after Christmas. I don't like clutter and if we got somethig new, then something old or unused has to go! Welcome 2009! I'm ready!
