3 Months

The last 3 months have really been a big whirlwind. Abby is turning into more of a baby and less of a newborn now. She can hold her head up when she is on her tummy. She looks like she is in pain when she does it, but she can. She loves to coo and make lots of noise. She smiles so much but I can never get a picture of it. I think she is about 12 lbs and 23 1/4 inches. Those are my own measurements of her. She is such a sweet baby.

Her nights are getting better and longer. Last night she slept from 9pm to 7:30 am without a peep! I don't know if it will happen every night yet, but she is definitely close.

First Day of School and other musings

Olivia started the first grade in her new favorite shoes, favorite headband and her new Barbie backpack. Not much fun picking out an outfit when you have to wear a uniform. (I love uniforms though.) She went in with confidence which is the complete opposite from last year. Her teacher is adorable and is so positive. Today she was wearing a bright pink wrap dress and opened the door to the classroom singing. I'm sure Olivia is thrilled.

I was talking with Olivia about the first day of school and I said, "Your teacher seems like a really happy lady."

Olivia replied, "Yes, but if you get on the "boo hoo" face then you have to go to another class and do work and miss recess. The "uh-oh" face isn't as bad. You just have to miss a little of recess."

Glad she got the rules down.

The mind of a little almost 6 year old always amazes me. We were reading scriptures the other night in Helaman. Olivia is always trying to get her bad guys and good guys straight. She asked, "What is the name of the bad guy again?"

"Seantum," Joey told her.

She sort of laughed and said, "Well, that's kind of a nice sounding name for a bad guy."

Today went by so fast with Olivia at school and today I am really noticing her absence and I miss her. It's so quiet around here.

The Sea Ranch

I love the northern coast of California. It is cool. The beaches a re beautiful. The water freezing. The tide pools are enticing. It's just so peaceful. We spent a week at Sea Ranch in a house with my family. Thanks mom and dad. We had so much fun being together as a family, minus Elder KC. His presence was definitely missed as well as his sense of humor.

I loved being able to walk on the bluffs in the morning and to just be together. We have many cooks in this family and we ate well each night. We couldn't have had a better time.

It's been a great summer....

School starts tomorrow. I'm ready. We have had yet another fun-filled and busy summer. No major trips this year. Lots of visiting grandparents and going to the beach. The perfect summer to have a little newborn and relax.

June started off with going no where. We stayed home while I recovered from my c-section and got used to our new baby and we all got a little stir crazy. July came and we took off. We spent time at my parents over the 4th of July and were home less than 2 weeks and were off again.

First we stopped at the Biron's where we visited with Joey's parents, did a little shopping and ate doughnuts the size of Sammie's head.

We love Grandma and Grandpa Biron. The girls always have a blast leaving their little creative messes all over the place. Next we headed over to my parents for a little over a week. Olivia overcame her fear of the "deep end" and became a fish at grandma's house. Sammie became afraid of the water and won't go near it. We enjoyed being able to go to the park and play, play , play. It's what these girls do best. It was nice to just hang out and relax. Having extra people around was also a luxury. I got to get up and go on a walk every morning.

Then we were off on vacation with my family for a week at Sea Ranch. Such a great summer.

She likes to talk

I feel like I've been gone from home forever. We are headed back tomorrow and Abby seems so much older. I feel like I'm bringing home a different baby. She is so cute and has discovered that she can make a lot of noise. She loves to go on and on.

2 months and tough

Abby had her 2 month check up today which means...shots. She did so well. She hardly even cried. Not like my other girls. I remember that after Olivia had her first shots I think she was mad at me for a week. Abby cried of course, but soon forgot it. Maybe that means she is very forgiving. Well, she is as cute as can be and she is a blessing in our home.
Abby is now 10 lbs and 12 oz and 21 or 21 1/2 inches. I'm not sure what the nurse said.

Mommy's Helpers

My girls love to help their baby sister. Often I will be trying to get something done and little Abby will be fussing. When I go to get her no one is around. I look down and there, right next to her will be a toy. A little sign that someone was giving her some love while I was busy. Her older sisters are always trying to comfort her. They are so sweet.

Sometimes "help" can get pretty funny.
